Scientific Contributions & Focus
Sickle Cell Disease Initiative
Initiated groundbreaking research on Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) in collaboration with NSCAEM and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS). Preliminary work successfully identified population groups and geographical areas where SCD is highly prevalent across the Islands.
Community-Based Profiling
Currently advancing community-based identification of individuals with SCD, establishing their clinical, biochemical, and genetic profiles to deeply understand disease characteristics, true burden, and tailored healthcare needs.
Health Systems in Isolated Settings
Evaluates health system efficiency and healthcare delivery directly within the geographically challenging settings of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, ensuring evidence-based planning and realistic public health policies are locally relevant.
Infectious Diseases Management
Investigates priority infectious diseases impacting community health, with a strong emphasis on Hepatitis B among vulnerable tribal populations, focusing on disease prevention, early detection, and comprehensive care.
